Getting here
Alloy wheel refurbishment for Gainsborough drivers
Saxilby Tyres is about 12 miles south of Gainsborough at Drinsey Nook, and it is one of the simplest runs to the workshop: the A156 leaves Gainsborough heading south and ends at the A57 a couple of hundred metres from the door. Drivers from Gainsborough and the villages along the A156 get the whole workshop – refurbishment, repairs, diamond cutting, powder coating and tyres – without going anywhere near Lincoln.
How do I get there from Gainsborough?
Head south out of town on the A156 through Lea, Knaith, Marton and Torksey. There is no toll on the way and the drive usually takes 20 to 25 minutes. Where the A156 meets the A57, the workshop is just off the junction on Drinsey Nook Lane.
Coming from the villages along the A156?
If you are in Lea, Knaith, Marton, Torksey or Fenton, you are already on the road that leads here, and from Torksey or Fenton the workshop is only a few minutes away.
Do I need to bring the car?
No. Most customers drop just the wheels off and collect them once they are finished – two runs down the A156. If taking the wheels off yourself is not practical, bring the whole car in instead and we will take them off and refit them – mention it when you book.
What we do for Gainsborough drivers
Before you set off
Is Saxilby Tyres worth the drive from Gainsborough?
Everything happens in one workshop. Saxilby Tyres strips, repairs, diamond cuts, powder coats and refits wheels under one roof, so nothing is sent away and nothing waits on someone else - which is how most sets of four are done on a 3 day turnaround.
Do I need to drive over for a quote?
No. Send a photo of each wheel to 01522 468109 or through the contact form and you will have a firm price the same day, so the first trip from Gainsborough is the one where the work gets done.
Can I have tyres fitted at the same time?
Yes, and it is the cheapest time to do it, because the tyres have to come off for a refurbishment anyway. Give us the size off the sidewall when you book and new tyres can be fitted, balanced and torqued before you collect.
What does it cost?
Refurbishment at Saxilby Tyres starts from £75 per wheel, with light kerb damage included; heavier damage - chunks out of the rim or deep gouges - may be charged as extra, and the quote will say so. Diamond cutting starts from £100 per wheel and crack weld repair starts from £90 per wheel. Solid-colour work carries a 1-year guarantee against peeling and corrosion, and diamond-cut wheels are guaranteed for 6 months.
